Plan 9 From Outer Space

Plan 9 From Outer Space

This movie always makes the “Worst Movie” lists and I can see why when you look at the cheesy dialogue, the goofs and the continuity issues; however, it is also a GREAT movie. The gist of the movie is aliens resurrecting dead humans in order to stop the human race from destroying the entire solar system.  The movie is directed by Ed Wood, Jr. and stars my fav Bela Lugosi, Vampira, and Tor Johnson.

Quote:

“We are all interested in the future, for that is where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives”

Best Scene:

Slowest vampire chase scene ever!

Phantom of the Opera’s inspiration

Interesting fact about Phantom of the Opera -

Phantom of the Opera was based on a novel written in 1908 by Gaston Leroux. Leroux was a journalist in the late 1800s and spent time going to the Paris Opera House. Phantom of the Opera apparently was influenced by “Faust”, an opera about a man who sells his soul to the devil, and an actual instance of a chandelier featured in that opera falling into the audience by accident.

Phantom of the Opera

The overwhelming response to a truly awful shark movie recently made me realize that I am not the only person who loves creature feature b horror films. I am going to start out by showcasing the movie that probably got me hooked on these movies.

When I was a kid I can remember watching  “Phantom of the Opera”  It was the 1925 SILENT version!! and it stars Lon Chaney as The Phantom.

This movie didn’t need words to get it’s story across. The dramatic overacting told the story (rather hilariously at times). The music made it suspenseful and haunting.

Here is a link to the full movie on YouTube if you are not lucky enough to have it on DVD like me : )

Favorite scenes: random spinning of the dance girls at 12:22 and Christine’s unmasking of the Phantom at 1:00:43.

Favorite line: Phantom: “Feast your eyes–glut your soul on my accursed ugliness!”

Creature Feature and other B horror films

This site is my thoughts on some of my favorite movies. These are opinions only and you know what they say about opinions – everyone’s got one. So be kind. There is no reason to resort to name calling. Tell us about your favorite monster or B movie actor. Share movie lines. Indulge in your love of giant monsters, bad special effects, and horrible acting!
